iPhone Says “No Printer Found”? Here’s How to Fix It

One of the most common printer problems I see at NeedBen Computer Support is when an iPhone suddenly can’t find a printer that was working perfectly before. The good news is that the issue is usually easy to fix.

Step 1: Make Sure Your iPhone and Printer Are on the Same Wi-Fi Network

Apple’s AirPrint feature requires that your iPhone and printer be connected to the same network. If your router broadcasts both a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz network, the printer may be connected to one network while your iPhone is connected to the other. This can prevent the printer from appearing on your iPhone.

Open Wi-Fi settings on your iPhone and confirm that you’re connected to the same network as the printer.

Step 2: Select the Printer Again

When printing from an iPhone, tap the Share button and choose Print. If you see “No Printer Selected,” tap it and allow the iPhone to search for available printers. Once your printer appears, select it and try printing again.

Step 3: Restart Everything

If the printer still doesn’t appear:

  • Turn off the printer.

  • Restart your iPhone.

  • Restart your Wi-Fi router.

  • Turn the printer back on.

This refreshes the network connection and often resolves AirPrint issues.

Step 4: Check for VPN Software

If you’re using a VPN on your iPhone, temporarily disable it and test printing again. VPNs can sometimes interfere with printer discovery.

Step 5: Verify AirPrint Support

Most modern printers support Apple AirPrint, but some older printers require the manufacturer’s app instead. AirPrint-compatible printers can print directly from an iPhone without installing drivers.
